On Monday 23 March Trafford sent 2 junior crews to Dorney Lake to compete at Junior Sculling Head, taking on a 2 leg course of 1.8 km for a total of 3.6 km in sunny yet breezy cross wind conditions.
The W J16 4x- of Izzy, Martha, Ellen, and Tabby raced in division 2 and produced a strong performance, finishing 14th out of 51 crews. They powered down the course showing impressive consistency, with only 8 seconds between their first and second leg. This demonstrates real endurance and grit through the second half of the race, as well as excellent crew cohesion and determination right to the finish. Well done girls 🎉
In division 12, the W J14 4x+ of Molly, Isobel, Jemima, Holly, with Min Yu coxing, took on their first national race as a crew. They delivered an outstanding performance to place 16th out of 54 crews, a fantastic result for their first race at Dorney Lake. The crew rowed well together throughout, maintaining focus and effort to the end, supported by excellent coxing from Min Yu who kept the crew motivated and on track. Great effort girls 🎉
Overall, it was a brilliant day of racing for Trafford, with both crews showing strong technical rowing and great potential at national level. We're very proud of these performances, and it is exciting to see what is to come from these crews in future races! 💚 Thank you to the organisers for such a great race 🤍
