A few brave Trafford rowers headed to Birmingham's NEC in December to compete at the British Indoor Championships. Everyone that competed produced a great performance on the erg on a national stage, with several medal winning results across a range of age groups.
One of our juniors Leo had an outstanding day. An intense race in the year 9 boys 4min race saw Leo, climbing from 9th place at 1min to go then using pure determination and grit to climb to the top- producing the winning distance by 1m in the final second of the race! He then followed with a strong 4th place finish in the Year 9 boys 500m. An excellent day of racing for Leo 🥇
Francesca delivered a brilliant performance, taking two silver medals in the Year 7 2min and 500m races. Having only joined the club in September after learning to row over the summer, this was an exceptional achievement and a real testament to her commitment and rapid progress 🥈
Other notable performances included Louise, who placed fourth in the 40 to 49 lightweight women’s 2k, and Emily, who finished fourth in the lightweight women’s 500m. Both fought hard on the erg and a great final standing for both in their events as well as a PB for both at the event.
Overall, it was an great outing for Trafford at BRIC, with athletes showing strong development, competitive racing, and great promise for the rest of the season
